Jon Jones Out Of UFC 295 Due To Injury

The MMA world was abuzz with anticipation for the face-off between two of its greatest fighters: Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. However, in a recent turn of events, Jon Jones will not be stepping into the octagon this time. Dana White, the UFC CEO, broke the news on social media on Tuesday, confirming the disappointment many fans felt.

Jon Jones, who many consider the best MMA fighter in history, was set to defend his UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic, the most successful heavyweight ever in the UFC. The match was to take place on November 11 in New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, a serious training injury on Monday night has led to Jones tearing a pectoral tendon off the bone. Dana White elaborated on the situation, stating, “He was wrestling and tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone off the bone. Eight months, gonna need surgery, he’s out.”

This unforeseen situation has led to significant changes in the UFC 295 card. The once co-main event, the fight for the vacant light heavyweight title, will now be the headliner. Former champions JiYí Procházka and Alex Pereira are now the stars of the show. Furthermore, an additional fight has been added to the card. Tom Aspinall will be facing Sergei Pavlovich in a battle for the interim heavyweight title.

Stipe Miocic, with the high-profile bout against Jones now off the table, will not be competing on this card. But fans of the sport are still holding on to hope. Sources indicate that there are discussions to rebook the epic face-off between Jones and Miocic in 2024.

Jon Jones’ recent fight history has seen him sparingly enter the octagon. His return to action this past March saw him defeating Cyril Gane in just over two minutes, marking his division debut and securing the vacant UFC heavyweight title.

While the loss of the Jones-Miocic fight is undoubtedly a blow to fans and the UFC alike, the new lineup still promises to bring action and drama to Madison Square Garden. The MMA community will be watching closely, and we all wish Jon Jones a swift recovery.
